Charminar , the four towered structure standing at the intersection of the four main streets of the city, like the Eiffel Tower of Paris , the Statue of Liberty in New York, or West Minister Abbey in London ..
Lafayette is a young man of royal birth, with liberal politics and what Jefferson later called "a canine appetite for fame." Someone said he was "a statue in search of a pedestal." But he was intoxicated with, [had] a rather theoretical love of, liberty. It was theoretical because liberty wasn't known to many Europeans. [Lafayette] was a great romantic and he fell in love with America, the concept of America that the French had. This wild new world where you could start the world over, to use Tom Paine's phrase.lafayette, gilbert du motier, marquis de
Out of the debris of a statue thoroughly shattered a new art work is born: a naked foot unforgettably resting on a stone; a candid hand; a bent knee which contains all the speed of the foot race; a torso which has no face to prevent us from loving it.Crayencour
Loosen up. Being masculine doesn't mean being a statue. Wrists were made to bend.
One does not walk around a statue any more than one walks around a painting, because one does not walk around a figure to receive an impression from it.Nothing is material in space.Medardo Rosso
From my pillow, looking forth by light Of moon or favouring stars, I could behold The antechapel where the statue stood Of Newton with his prism and silent face, The marble index of a mind for ever Voyaging through strange seas of Thought alone. 925william wordsworth
The statue of Freedom has not been cast yet, the furnace is hot, we can all still burn our fingers.georg büchner

I would rather pass by the statue of Cervantes by car today than let my children cross by mine on foot tomorrow.pedro muñoz seca
Never pay any attention to what critics say…Remember, a statue has never been set up in honour of a critic!jean sibelius
The creative process lies not in imitating, but in paralleling nature translating the impulse received from nature into the medium of expression, thus vitalizing this medium. The picture should be alive, the statue should be alive, and every work of art should be alive.hans hofmann
The cedar and the juniper tree have the same uses and good qualities... from the cedar is produced an oil called cedar oil. Books as well as other things smeared with this are not hurt by worms or decay. ...the grain of the wood is straight. The statue of Diana in the temple at Ephesus is made of it, and so are the coffered ceilings both there and in all other famous fanes , because that wood is everlasting.vitruvius
History fades into fable; fact becomes clouded with doubt and controversy; the inscription moulders from the tablet: the statue falls from the pedestal. Columns, arches, pyramids, what are they but heaps of sand; and their epitaphs, but characters written in the dust?
The stone unhewn and cold Becomes a living mould, The more the marble wastes The more the statue grows.
So stands the statue that enchants the world, So bending tries to veil the matchless boast, The mingled beauties of exulting Greece.james thomson
There is a statue of Vishnu at the 2000 yaer old Padmanabhaswamy Temple in the heart of the city. This temple is located within the walls, or fort that encircles the town, and is the only temple in the state with a huge gopura which was so much part of the temple architecture in Tamil Nadu. This is an interesting temple but quite muted by Tamil Nadu standards and I think the six metre long reclining figure of Vishnu is probably the most striking aspect.
With chiseled touch The stone unhewn and cold Becomes a living mould, The more the marble wastes, The more the statue grows.
If I had written King Lear , I would regret it all my life afterwards. Because that work is so big, that its defects show as huge, its monstrous defects, things even minimal in between some scenes and their possible perfection. It's not the sun with spots; it's a broken greek statue.
I would rather pass by the statue of Cervantes by car today than let my children cross by mine on foot tomorrow.
This was the most unkindest cut of all; For when the noble Cæsar saw him stab, Ingratitude, more strong than traitor's arms, Quite vanquish'd him; then burst his mighty heart; And, in his mantle muffling, up his face, Even at the base of Pompey's statue, Which all the while ran blood, great Cæsar fell.william shakespeare

Jainism has a distinct concept of underlying Thirthankara worship. The physical form is not worshipped, but their Gunas ; virtues , qualities are praised. Thirthankaras remain role-models, and sects such as the Sthanakavasi stringently reject statue worship.
It was like walking down the street with the statue of Liberty.
When you begin to read a poem you are entering a foreign country whose laws and language and life are a kind of translation of your own; but to accept it because its stews taste exactly like your old mother's hash, or to reject it because the owl-headed goddess of wisdom in its temple is fatter than the statue of Liberty, is an equal mark of that want of imagination, that inaccessibility to experience, of which each of us who dies a natural death will die.Randall Jarrell
