I think there is a danger with young people of being dependent in the sense that they don't acquire any identity or self-image of themselves as thinkers. They just go and look it up or they just chat with someone. In other words, relying on something rather than saying: "Okay, I've got the information, how do I create value from it?"
Daily life is a comprimised blend of posturing for the sake of role-playing and of varying degrees of self-revelation. Under stressful conditions even the "true" self cannot be precisely defined, as Erving Goffman observes. ...Little wonder that the Identity crisis is a major source of modern neuroticism , and that the urban middle class aches for a return to a simpler existence.e. o. wilson
The myth of Canada, its hidden story, is of a contemplative country, a place of inwardness, where people can question the idea of nationhood and ponder what values we wish to see expressed and achieved, and what solitudes of Identity and reverie we wish to preserve.b. w. powe
The appearence of Sheikh Mujib was the biggest event in the national history of Bangladesh. His burial did not take place through his death. More pragmatic, efficient, capable and dyanmic political personalities than Sheikh Mujibur Rahman might have emerged or may emerge, but it will be very difficult to find someone who has contributed more to the independence movement of Bangladesh and the shaping of its national Identity.sheikh mujibur rahman
The sense of unhappiness is so much easier to convey than that of happiness. In misery we seem aware of our own existence, even though it may be in the form of a monstrous egotism: this pain of mine is individual, this nerve that winces belong to me and to no other. But happiness annihilates us: we lose our Identity.graham greene
We do not demand for our own people any more than the basic human rights which we would extend to every nation, people and tribe on this planet: the right to preserve their own territory, traditions and ethnic Identity. The right to preserve, in other words, the things which, by marking their differences from the mass of humanity, make them human and turn their society from an ant heap into a community.nicholas john griffin
Violence, whether spiritual or physical, is a quest for Identity and the meaningful. The less Identity, the more violence.Marshall McLuhan
Young people, who are still uncertain of their Identity, often try on a succession of masks in the hope of finding the one which suits them the one, in fact, which is not a mask.
Lack of specificity around stakeholder Identity remains a serious obstacle to the further development of stakeholder theory and its adoption in actual practice by business managers . Nowhere is this shortcoming more evident than in stakeholder theory's treatment of the constituency known as 'community.
Dear Kashubian brothers and sisters! Cherish the values and the heritage that define your Identity.
I also would like to encourage you; encourage you to continue to preserve your Identity while fostering family ties, deepening the knowledge of your language and striving to pass down your rich Kashubian tradition to the younger generation.
An Identity based in the one-way love of God does not take into account public opinion or, thankfully, even personal opinion.

There can be no more thrilling idea of intimacy that connecting with someone through the agency of the written word. Here we meet, on the page, naked and unadorned: shorn of class, race, gender, sexual Identity, age and nationality. The reader I seek is a tautology, for he/she is simply…the person who wants to read what I have written.will self
What is important to me in my work is the Identity that is hidden behind so-called reality. I search for a bridge from the given present tot the invisible, rather as a famous cabalist once said, ‘If you wish to grasp the invisible, penetrate as deeply as possible into the visible’.max beckmann
Some of the biggest cases of mistaken Identity are among intellectuals who have trouble remembering that they are not God.thomas sowell
The concept of absolute, hence (or whence) springs, in the moral field, the moral laws or norms, represent, in the field of knowledge, the principle of Identity, which is the fundamental law of the thought; norms of logic springs from it, that govern the thought (or mind) in the field of science." ("Le concept de l'absolu, d'où découlent, dans le domaine moral, les lois ou normes morales, constitue, le principe d'identité, qui est la loi fondamentale de la pensée; il en découle les normes logiques qui régissent la pensée dans le domaine de la science.")african spir
The political and military leaders of the Slavs of Macedonia at the turn of the century seem not to have heard Misirkov's call for a separate Macedonian national Identity; they continued to identify themselves in a national sense as Bulgarians rather than Macedonians.Loring Danforth
Quite apart from the fact that it conflicts with the demands and the content of the word of God, nihilism is a denial of the humanity and of the very Identity of the human being. It should never be forgotten that the neglect of being inevitably leads to losing touch with objective truth and therefore with the very ground of human dignity.
"You," your joys and your sorrows, your memories and your ambitions, your sense of personal Identity and free will, are in fact no more than the behavior of a vast assembly of nerve cells and their associated molecules.
The trick...is to find the balance between the bright colors of humour and the serious issues of Identity, self-loathing, and the possibility for intimacy and love when it seems no longer possible or, sadder yet, no longer necessary.”
Everybody tends to merge his Identity with other people at the speed of light. It's called being mass man.
It is funny about money. And it is funny about Identity. You are you because your little dog knows you, but when your public knows you and does not want to pay for you and when your public knows you and does want to pay for you, you are not the same you.
And Identity is funny being yourself is funny as you are never yourself to yourself except as you remember yourself and then of course you do not believe yourself.
I salute the contribution that Rugby League has made to Australia's national Identity, it's a tough game. It started as a working man's game; it's become every man's game now. It still retains that working class character and that's part of its heart and soul and I hope it always does, but it is also a game that has reached out to the entire community.
