Kurt Cobain was an American musician best known as the founder and lead singer of the 1990s band Nirvana. Born in 1967, Cobain was an influential voice of Generation X in general and the grunge music movement in particular. His music was notable for its intense sound and lyrics filled with raw motion.
Cobain's success with Nirvana was global, and the band toured frequently and released several hit albums, including Nevermind (1991) and In Utero (1993). Hit songs included "Smells Like Teen Spirit," "All Apologies" and "Heart Shaped Box."
Cobain committed suicide in 1994 at the age of 27. He was struggling with heroin addiction and depression; he left behind his wife, singer and actress Courtney Love, and their young daughter. Though Cobain lived a brief, troubled life, his words still speak to artists and outcasts alike.
If you're really a mean person you're going to come back as a fly and eat poop.
