Far from affording artists continuous inspiration, mass-media sources for art have become a dead end. They have combined with the abstractness of institutional art teaching to produce a fine-arts culture given over to information and not experience. This faithfully echoes the drain of concreteness from modern existence— the reign of mere unassimilated data instead of events that gain meaning by being absorbed into the fabric of imaginative life.
Purandara Dasa of the fitheenth-sixteenth century, who is said to be the father of present day classical Carnatic music, initiated a system of Teaching Carnatic music and presented the initial scale of notes to be taught to a beginner. Purandara Dasa was a great devotee given to spending his whole life in meditation on God and singing his praises.
...my opinion is that we have, in the person of Da Free John, a Spiritual Master and religious genius of the ultimate degree. I assure you I do not mean that lightly. I am not tossing out high-powered phrases to 'hype' the works of Da Free John. I am simply offering to you my own considered opinion: Da Free John's Teaching is, I believe, unsurpassed by that of any other spiritual Hero, of any period, of any place, of any time, of any persuasion.adi da
The Bible is like a wide and beautiful landscape seen afar off, dim and confused; but a good telescope will bring it near, and spread out all its rocks and trees and flowers and v__ulant fields and winding rivers at one's very feet. That telescope is the Spirit's Teaching.thomas chalmers
The best assurance any one can have of his interest in God, is doubtless the conformity of his soul to Him. When our heart is once turned into a conformity with the mind of God. when we feel our will conformed to His will, we shall then presently perceive a spirit of adoption within ourselves, Teaching us to say, "Abba, Father."ralph cudworth
All of these credited for righteousness, going back from Abraham to the first man, could be described as Christians in fact if not in name, without exceeding the truth. For the name means that the Christian, through the knowledge and Teaching of Christ, excels in self-control and righteousness, in disciplines and virtue, and in the confession of the one and only God over all, and in all this they showed no less zeal than we.eusebius of caesarea
To get, then, the mind of Christ,'and to declare it, is the primary end of the Teaching offices of the church. The living body of sympathetic men, saturated with the truth and feeling of the Book, must bring it into contact with other men, through that marvelous organ the human voice, and with such aid as comes from the subtle sympathy that pervades assemblies of human beings.john hall
My Teaching, if that is the word you want to use, has no copyright. You are free to reproduce, distribute, interpret, misinterpret, distort, garble, do what you like, even claim authorship, without my consent or the permission of anybody.u. g. krishnamurti
It is like a wide embrace gathering all those who have long searched for words of hope… Saddened by the continual strife amongst believers of many confessions and wearied of their intolerance towards each other, I discovered in the Bahá'í Teaching the real spirit of Christ so often denied and misunderstood.queen of romania marie of edinburgh
I have laid the stick that connects people together. Now it is up to you, your generation and the generations to come, to build upon that stick a bridge that will ensure the free sharing of information and Teaching between the two peoples until the day we become united again as a single people, as we were once before; before men separated us with their imaginary political boundaries of today's Polynesia and Micronesia.mau piailug
I have come to believe ... that the stage may do more than teach, that much of our current moral instruction will not endure the test of being cast into a lifelike mold, and when presented in dramatic form will reveal itself as platitudinous and effete. That which may have sounded like righteous Teaching when it was remote and wordy, will be challenged afresh when it is obliged to simulate life itself.jane addams
It is the malady of our age that the young are so busy Teaching us that they have no time left to learn.Eric Hoffer
I think of physics as the liberal arts of technology . You understand the fundamental aspects of physics, and then you can learn the technology and understand how it relates to current world problems. I'm Teaching the elementary physics that is most useful for someone who is trying to live in a technological world, to contribute to that world, and to make correct decisions.
Protestantism itself, in its early phases, was plainly a movement toward mysticism: its purpose, at least in theory, was to remove the priestly veil separating man from the revealed Word of God. But that veil was restored almost instantly, and by the year 1522, five years after Wittenberg, Luther was damning the Anabaptists with all the ferocious certainty of a medieval Pope, and his followers were docily accepting his Teaching.
Teaching literature is impossible; that is why it is difficult.Northrop Frye
Alternate translation: Teaching by precept is a long road, but short and beneficial is the way by example.

This great maxim of Philosophy he had gathered by the Teaching of nature alone: That man was created to work, not to speculate, or feel, or dream.thomas carlyle
"Evolutionism is a religious world view that is not supported by science, Scripture, popular opinion, or common sense. The exclusive Teaching of this dangerous, mind-altering philosophy in tax supported schools, parks, museums, etc. is a clear violation of the First Amendment."kent hovind
Scilurus on his death-bed, being about to leave four-score sons surviving, offered a bundle of darts to each of them, and bade them break them. When all refused, drawing out one by one, he easily broke them, thus Teaching them that if they held together, they would continue strong; but if they fell out and were divided, they would become weak.Plutarch
...that parents are no longer Teaching the language to their children and are not using it actively in everyday matters.
To increase the number of men and women in all lands who will refuse absolutely to sanction the use of any unchristian weapon, who will follow without compromise the Teaching and example of Jesus Christ, and who will seek diligently by every possible means to spread abroad in the lives of individuals and of nations the spirit of Jesus, this is the only sure way to abolish war.
The home is the first and most effective place to learn the lessons of life: truth, honor, virtue, self control, the value of education, honest work, and the purpose and privilege of life. Nothing can take the place of home in rearing and Teaching children, and no other success can compensate for failure in the home.
The best way to obtain truth and wisdom is not to ask from books, but to go to God in prayer, and obtain divine Teaching.
Socrates was the chief saint of the Stoics throughout their history ; his attitude at the time of his trial, his refusal to escape, his calmness in the face of death , and his contention that the perpetrator of injustice injures himself more than his victim, all fitted in perfectly with Stoic Teaching. So did his indifference to heat and cold, his plainness in matters of food and dress, and his complete independence of all bodily comforts.bertrand russell
