What is called music today is all too often only a disguise for the monologue of power. However, and this is the supreme irony of it all, never before have musicians tried so hard to communicate with their audience, and never before has that communication been so deceiving. Music now seems hardly more than a somewhat clumsy excuse for the self-glorification of musicians and the growth of a new industrial sector.
I am a composer first and foremost, and have always believed that being able to write memorable melodies is what sets Musicians apart. My songs bring images to the listener's mind. The object is to transport my listeners to another place, some place sacred and spiritual that will make them glad they took the ride.bradley joseph
Musicians don't retire; they stop when there's no more music in them.
Musicians paint their pictures on silencewe provide the music, and you provide the silence.
Musicians wrestle everywhere:
All day among the crowded air,
I hear the silver strife;
And – waking long before the morn –
Such transport breaks upon the town
I think it that "new life!"
But God has a few of us to whom he whispers in the ear; The rest may reason and welcome; 'tis we Musicians know.Robert Browning
I think audiences come to hear older Musicians like me just to see if we can pick up a horn without falling over.
Today Musicians listen to see who makes the most money on a style, and then they set to copying him. And they don't copy the ones that are beautiful, creative and good.Charles Mingus
Most marijuana smokers are Negroes, Hispanics, jazz Musicians, and entertainers. Their satanic music is driven by marijuana, and marijuana smoking by white women makes them want to seek sexual relations with Negroes, entertainers, and others. It is a drug that causes insanity, criminality, and death — the most violence-causing drug in the history of mankind.harry j. anslinger

Yet, if such a being, who reversed the maxim nihil humani me alienum puto [nothing human is foreign to me], cannot be loved, as little can he be abhorred or despised. He was, in spite of the atrophy or non development of many of the faculties which are found in those in whom the "elements are kindly mixed," as truly a genius as the mere poets, painters, and Musicians, with small intellects and hearts and large imaginations, to whom the world is so willing to bend the knee. He is more to be wondered at than blamed.henry cavendish
There is a limited supply of excellent songs, but I am not the only one. Paul McCartney, one of the best songwriters of all time, has only produced manure for the past 25 years. Rock Musicians over 30 only produce unimportant material.Noel Gallagher
"These differences can make it difficult for female Musicians to enter male-dominated musical cultures."holly kruse
Classical Musicians go to the conservatories, rock´n roll Musicians go to the garages.frank zappa
A composer is a guy who goes around forcing his will on unsuspecting air molecules, often with the assistance of unsuspecting Musicians.frank zappa
Music is a mysterious mathematical process whose elements are part of Infinity. ... There is nothing more musical than a sunset. He who feels what he sees will find no more beautiful example of development in all that book which, alas, Musicians read but too little the book of Nature.claude debussy
Like most artists and Musicians, I considered myself detached from the political life…but I had an insight that maybe we would have a political contribution to make in the future.gilberto gil
Those who present directly and immediately the new forms and symbols are the artists the dramatists, the Musicians, the painters, the dancers, the poets, and those poets of the religious sphere we call saints. They portray the new symbols in the form of images poetic, aural, plastic, or dramatic, as the case may be. They live out their imaginations.rollo may
Monk enters the studio and starts playing, the rest of the Musicians join him. After few minutes of play the technician from his room shouts and stops the band.] Monk: "Why did we stop?" Technician: "I thought you were rehearsing." Monk: "Aren't we always?"thelonious monk
Technically he was highly gifted, but also severely limited. His music is well constructed and effective, but monotonous in texture, which consists in essence mainly of artificial and gushing tunes accompanied by a variety of figures derived from arpeggios. The enormous popular success some few of Rakhmaninoff's works had in his lifetime is not likely to last, and Musicians never regarded it with much favour.sergei rachmaninoff
“No praise could be sufficient for those courageous Musicians whom we left behind. They were heroes to a man.”steve turner
Rulers and landed aristocracy vied with each other in their patronage of composers and Musicians and the cyclical patronage of royal Courts at Vijayanagar, Tanjore, Trivandrum , Pudukottai, Mysore , Ettayapuram, etc. In Preface
The 14th and 16th centuries, Vidyaranya, Ramamatya, and Vithala were among the notable scholars and Musicians who helped mould the Karnatak system.

Astronomers... have a common ground for discussion with Musicians in the harmony of the stars and musical concords in tetrads and triads of the fourth and the fifth, and with geometricians in the subject of vision; and in all other sciences many points, perhaps all, are common so far as the discussion of them is concerned. But the actual undertaking of works which are brought to perfection by the hand and its manipulation is the function of those who have been specially trained to deal with a single art.
Because most rappers started out with a DJ playing records for musical accompaniment (no live Musicians), many rap records are based around the chords and bass lines of popular songs.
