I think there is a danger with young people of being dependent in the sense that they don't acquire any identity or self-image of themselves as thinkers. They just go and look it up or they just chat with someone. In other words, relying on something rather than saying: "Okay, I've got the information, how do I create value from it?"
The myth of Canada, its hidden story, is of a contemplative country, a place of inwardness, where people can question the idea of nationhood and ponder what values we wish to see expressed and achieved, and what solitudes of Identity and reverie we wish to preserve.b. w. powe
The sense of unhappiness is so much easier to convey than that of happiness. In misery we seem aware of our own existence, even though it may be in the form of a monstrous egotism: this pain of mine is individual, this nerve that winces belong to me and to no other. But happiness annihilates us: we lose our Identity.graham greene
We do not demand for our own people any more than the basic human rights which we would extend to every nation, people and tribe on this planet: the right to preserve their own territory, traditions and ethnic Identity. The right to preserve, in other words, the things which, by marking their differences from the mass of humanity, make them human and turn their society from an ant heap into a community.nicholas john griffin
Violence, whether spiritual or physical, is a quest for Identity and the meaningful. The less Identity, the more violence.Marshall McLuhan
In contrast to the asexual chasteness of official communist art , Nazi art is both prurient and idealizing. A utopian aesthetics (physical perfection; Identity as a biological given) implies an ideal eroticism: sexuality converted into the magnetism of leaders and the joy of followers. The fascist ideal is to transform sexual energy into a "spiritual" force, for the benefit of the community.Susan Sontag
Daily life is a comprimised blend of posturing for the sake of role-playing and of varying degrees of self-revelation. Under stressful conditions even the "true" self cannot be precisely defined, as Erving Goffman observes. ...Little wonder that the Identity crisis is a major source of modern neuroticism , and that the urban middle class aches for a return to a simpler existence.e. o. wilson
Lack of specificity around stakeholder Identity remains a serious obstacle to the further development of stakeholder theory and its adoption in actual practice by business managers . Nowhere is this shortcoming more evident than in stakeholder theory's treatment of the constituency known as 'community.

The male dares to be different to the degree that he accepts his passivity and his desire to be female, his fagginess. The farthest out male is the dragqueen, but he, although different from most men, is exactly like all other dragqueens; like the functionalist, he has an Identity - a female; he tries to define all his troubles away - but still no individuality. Not completely convinced that he's a woman, highly insecure about being sufficiently female, he conforms compulsively to the man-made feminine stereotype, ending up as nothing but a bundle of stilted mannerisms.valerie solanas
The very act of thinking about power in our lives and experiences creates a process of revelation and self-analysis that may even make us look at ourselves in a new light... thinking about power and its complex manifestations may not simply lead to a better understanding of the abstract complexities of society, but may have an effect on one?s own image and Identity. Perhaps a warning label should be placed on the cover...kenneth boulding
The estranged ego projects its own disorder on to society and expects the restructuring and integration of the self writ large, the society, to reflect back on to the source of consciousness. Stirner regards this flight from self as a form of suicide, the dissolution of Identity and uniqueness.john carroll
Quite apart from the fact that it conflicts with the demands and the content of the word of God, nihilism is a denial of the humanity and of the very Identity of the human being. It should never be forgotten that the neglect of being inevitably leads to losing touch with objective truth and therefore with the very ground of human dignity.
Human nature, human nature acts as it acts when it is identified when there is an Identity but it is not human nature that has anything to do with that it is that anybody is there where they are, it is that that has to do with Identity, with government and propaganda with history with individualism and with communism but it has nothing nothing to do with the human mind ... because the human mind writes what there is and what has Identity go to do with that ... nothing at all.Gertrude Stein
"liberal minds living within our side of the border, would certainly not feel ashamed of their own Slavic language, or the fact that their basic Identity, just like the language, is Slavic, instead of establishing a variety of racist theories about antiquity and some super-humans from which we originate".
A lot of kids are bullied because of their sexual Identity or expression . It's often the effeminate boys and the masculine girls, the ones who violate gender norms and expectations, who get bullied.
Although sexual theorists might like simple, parsimonious, conceptualization of sexual orientation and sexual Identity or unidirectional theories of sexual behaviour. Recent studies of various groups in the United States show that simple conceptualizations of sexual orientation and sexual Identity development do not accurately reflect the rich variation in behaviour or self-classification.

To be idle requires a strong sense of personal Identity.
An Identity based in the one-way love of God does not take into account public opinion or, thankfully, even personal opinion.
