Various advocates and critics of panentheism find evidence of incipient or implicit forms of panentheism present in religious thought as early as 1300 BCE. Hartshorne discovers the first indication of panentheistic themes in Ikhnaton (1375–1358 BCE), the Egyptian pharaoh often considered the first monotheist . In his poetic description of the sun god, Ikhnaton avoids both the separation of God from the world that will characterize theism and the identification of God with the world that will characterize pantheism. …Early Vedantic thought, as well as some modern Indian thought, implies panentheism in non-Advaita forms that understand non-dualism as inclusive of differences.

In other philosophical systems including Advaita Vedanta, maya is thought of as cosmic illusion or ignorance ( avidya ) that deludes the atman into forgetting its own divine nature. This forgetfulness of its true nature further causes the atman to mistakenly identify itself with the body and mind , assume individuality , and thus subject itself to the physical limitations in the phenomenal world ( samsara ).
In Samkhya , since atman (Purusa) is pure consciousness , which cannot be defined further, and Prakrti is responsible for the creation of the empirical world , Purusa is regarded as essentially inactive. But, while in Advaita , the multitude of souls (of course, the karmic chain of transmigration might hold together one and the same soul but they are supposed to be innumerable chains representing different souls) is only valid on the empirical, lower stage of reality.
The followers of Advaita Vedanta maintain that creation, preservation, and dissolution, the individual ego, the external world, all these are manifestations of the Eternal Energy (Shakti). They also say that when these are properly analyzed, they appear as dreams, that the Absolute Brahman alone is the Reality, and all else is unreal. Even Eternal Energy (Shakti) is like a dream, unreal, but you may analyze and discriminate thousands of times, you cannot transcend the realm of Divine Energy (Shakti) unless you have reached the highest state of Samadhi or Superconsciousness.ramakrishna
